We kicked off things nicely this year with a fabulous cocktail event on behalf of the Mayoral 100 Club. It was basically a night of getting to know our fellow club members – all whilst having fun! What could be better?
The range of business signed up to support and promote Liverpool City Council during the tenth anniversary of the Capital of Culture is truly diverse. From marketers and hotelier to property developers and language tutors, the range is brilliant. We all have different backgrounds, expertise and experiences. That’s what makes this movement so special! On Wednesday 31st January we all met up at The Alchemist for an evening of fun and socialising.
Getting inspired by fellow members
Our director of business development Helen got to spend some time with Sandra Scott of Chataway. Chataway is a school committed to making learning a second (or third, or fourth!) language easy. Sandra’s enthusiasm is infectious. She’s committed to improving the city’s ability to meet and greet tourists in their native tongue. Of course, she is very proud of our city and aspires for anybody in our tourism industry to be able to meet and greet in a whole range of languages. We even discussed the prospect of some in-house training! This would be for the team to learn to meet and greet our Asian and Middle East clients. How amazing would this be? It would be totally consistent with our brand: going the extra mile.
We also spent some invaluable time with John Haynes of The International Coaching Academy. John is a business consultant and success expert who created the academy to inspire organisations and individuals to achieve their potential. The company was founded in 1998 and John is a really interesting guy who does so much for our city. He is seen as an inspiration to a lot of business owners, including Sandra who we spoke about earlier!
So, we’re sure by now you’ve guessed that we met a lot of great people. It’s just made us all the more excited to be a part of the Mayoral 100. Whilst we were able to socialise and learn about our fellow members, we obviously took part in some much-anticipated cocktail making. We all got the opportunity to get behind the bar and strut our Tom Cruise stuff… Our cocktail making skills weren’t too on point but as chief tasters, we were definitely the best!
Chase Distillery also wanted a piece of the action. They had a representative present with samples of their amazing gins and vodkas. We’re not complaining. Shot samples of their Elderflower liqueur, marmalade Vodka and GB Gin all went down a treat but my personal favourite was the Sloe and Mulberry Gin. A real winter warmer!
A great success all round
A fun time was had by all and it seems like the start of an amazing journey. The Terracotta Warriors have now arrived and we’re looking forward to exploring these once they have settled in. Overall, the Mayoral 100 Club is going to present a lot of great opportunities for its members and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it. Watch this space… we’re sure we’ll have more exciting news and events to share with you soon!
